China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Limited ( China Shipbuilding Industry Group Co., Ltd. was established on July 1, 1999, and is a central enterprise managed by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council. Its predecessor was the Sixth Ministry of Machine Building, established in September 1963, when the State Council decided to separate the shipbuilding industry from the Third Ministry of Machine Building. In accordance with the major decisions of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on the basic completion of the corporate reform of state-owned enterprises and the relevant work arrangements of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and with the approval of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (hereinafter referred to as CSIC) completed its corporate reform and completed the business registration change procedures at the Beijing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce on December 15, 2017.
In July 2019, it was ranked 243rd in the Fortune Global 500. On September 1, 2019, the list of Top 100 Leading Enterprises in China's Strategic Emerging Industries in 2019 was released in Jinan, and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Limited ranked 43rd. It ranked 19th in the 2019 list of Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises in China. On November 26, 2019, China Shipbuilding Group Co., Ltd. (China Shipbuilding Group) was officially unveiled in Beijing.
